Before they take on England in the much-anticipated Edgbaston Test, Indians face off against Leicester in a four-day warm-up game.
India kick-off their preparations for the much-anticipated fifth Test of last year’s interrupted series in England with a warm-up encounter against English county club Leicestershire.
The Rohit Sharma-led touring party will get going towards the Edgbaston Test via a proper four-day face-off versus the team currently part of Division 2 of the County Championship.
Given the busy schedule of England’s first-class scene, Leicestershire may field an understrength team, which would probably not lead to ideal preparations for the Indians.
But an opportunity to get some red-ball cricket under their belt after undergoing two months of IPL will be priceless for India’s Test regulars as they strive to clinch a Test series win in England after 15 years.
With four Tests completed last year, the five-match series currently stands 2-1 in India’s favour. A draw or a win in Birmingham would help the tourists achieve one of India’s better Test series victories in overseas conditions.
