The young kid had his day made as Joe Root stopped over to give him a signed bat.

Joe Root is the king on and off the field these days, as he warmed the hearts of fans on Sunday (June 12) by signing a little kid's bat as England walked off for the tea break on Day 3 of the Trent Bridge Test.

As the tea interval was announced for the second Test against New Zealand, Root began walking off the field and entered the ladder adjoining the stand and England's dressing room.

Just as he was about to move on and drop off his gear to earn some breather before resuming his batting duties, the England batting great found a kid requesting him to sign the small token bat he was carrying.

Tired after all the run-scoring on the field, Joe Root had a legitimate reason to deny the young man his wish if he wanted to. But the cricketer hearteningly waited and gave his signature to the boy, giving him a moment he will never ever forget.

Root spoke about the little amusing incident on the following afternoon in a Sky Sports interview with former England cricketer Ian Ward while the English broadcaster played out the clip of it on screen.

The young kid was seen all jubilant after the star player gave him the signature on his willow and viewers could also see him showing it to his parents standing next to him with a great smile on his face.

While Root was giving him the signature, the kid also patted on the batter back several times and congratulated him for scoring another Test century for England.

Speaking about the episode to Ward, Joe Root said he had absolutely no issues giving the kid a moment to remember for the rest of his life as he saw his own 20 years back version in him.

"It was pretty easy, really (to switch off and give the kid his signature). That was me, 20 years ago, coming to Test matches and hustling for signatures (of all established England stars) and it made my day..," Root recalled.
