After being rested for the Bangladesh series last month, senior pacers Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali returned to the squad for the recent West Indies series and kept their places.
Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheen Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman were the other experienced campaigners in the side.

Pakistan have won the T20I series in West Indies 2-1 and will look to carry on that momentum into the tri-series in UAE with hosts and Afghansitan before the Asia Cup 2025.
Pakistan have persisted with the same squad from the West Indies series which recently concluded.
Experienced spin-bowling all-rounder Mohammed Nawaz will once be key in the tournament along with Abrar Ahmed and young left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem.
Pakistan don’t have vice-captain Shadab Khan available as he recovering from a surgery to his shoulder.
Asia Cup 2025 begins with the clash between Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Dubai on September 9 and will conclude with the final on September 28.
There are eight teams divided into two groups with India, Oman, Pakistan and UAE in Group A. Group B has Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Pakistan will face Oman on September 12, followed by a clash against India on September 14 and then a clash with hosts UAE on September 17.
Two top teams from each group will then progress to the Super Four phase to be played between September 20 to 26. The top two teams from this phase will qualify for the final on September 28.
Pakistan will begin the tri-nation series with the clash with Afghanistan on August 29 followed by UAE on August 30. All three teams will face each other twice with the top two clashing in the final on September 7. All matches of the series will be played at the Sharjah International Stadium.
