Priyansh Arya Slams Quickfire Hundred vs Australia A, Punjab Kings Teammates Slam Half-Centuries

He was at his ruthless best at the top and tormented the opponent bowlers.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Priyansh Arya wreaked havoc while opening the innings for India A in the first unofficial ODI against Australia A in Kanpur. He was at his ruthless best at the top and tormented the opponent bowlers by hitting them all around the park.

Arya scored 101 runs in only 84 deliveries, including 11 boundaries and five maximums, at a strike rate of 120.24. 73.26% of his total runs came via fours and sixes, and he maximised early field restrictions to provide a rapid start to India A.

This was his maiden List A century, and he couldn’t have chosen a better stage to prove his worth, given his previous 50-over record was uninspiring, albeit in a small sample size. Before this, he had played only seven List A matches, scoring 77 runs at a mediocre average of 11, with a best of 45.

Meanwhile, his Punjab Kings partner Prabhsimran Singh scored 56 runs in 53 balls, including six boundaries and two maximums, at a strike rate of 105.66. He has a fabulous List A record and continued his good run with a solid fifty at the top, even though he would have liked to make it bigger.

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya share a century opening stand

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya formed a massive 135-run opening stand against Australia A to provide early stability to the innings. The pair took only 123 balls for these many runs and had a run rate of 6.65 during this partnership.

The opponent has quality bowlers like Will Sutherland, Liam Scott, and Todd Murphy, but the PBKS batters navigated threats adeptly and laid a perfect foundation for others to follow. Both understand each other’s game brilliantly since the two also opened for the Kings in IPL 2025.

Meanwhile, their PBKS captain, Shreyas Iyer, and Riyan Parag continued from where they left off by racing away to respective fifties in no time. Iyer is currently batting at 70 in 63 deliveries, whereas Parag has been dismissed after a well-made 67 in 42 balls.

India A have already crossed the 300-run mark by the end of 40 overs and will look to post a big total by maximising the final 10 overs. They still have the likes of Ayush Badoni and Suryansh Shedge in the batting unit and will surely look to get to 400 by the end of the innings.
