Kuldeep Yadav Outfoxes Shai Hope with Flighted Delivery

During the first innings on the 1st day of the test, Kuldeep Yadav struck in just his second over back in Test cricket with a gem of a delivery. The flighted ball from the chinaman spinner tempted Shai Hope into a drive, but he completely missed as the ball darted back to crash into the stumps. Hope was left completely baffled.

West Indies suffered a huge setback just before Lunch, losing their fifth wicket at 90/5. Kuldeep’s flight, drift, and turn proved too clever for Hope, who managed 26 runs off 36 balls. A superbly set-up delivery from Kuldeep at his best, leaving West Indies reeling. With that wicket and just two minutes remaining, the umpires took Lunch.

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah Strike Early to Put WI on Back Foot

Playing their first home match of the season, India got off to a strong start, with their pacers dominating the opening session. Mohammed Siraj took three wickets, dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze, and Brandon King, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed the wicket of John Campbell. Kuldeep Yadav, playing a Test after nearly a year, bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Shai Hope, ending the session with India taking five wickets for 90 runs before lunch. The team continued where they left off, and at the time of writing, West Indies were 139-6 in 37 overs, with Siraj picking up another wicket, that of captain Roston Chase.

For the first test, India have chosen to play with two main pacers, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, supported by medium-pacer Nitish Kumar Reddy, and three spinners, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar.
