Steve Smith mended ways with the robo-cam that disturbed his concentration at the crease on Day 1 of the series-deciding Test match against Pakistan.
On Monday (March 21), Smith was about to face a delivery when his left eye spotted the robot camera rolling across the on-side boundary.
In an incident reflecting the level of concentration and discipline the batter puts into his batting, the great batter could see the robot moving along the turf even as it was far away on the leg side and wasn’t anywhere near in the line behind the bowler.
At that point, Steve Smith safely negotiated the ball but the moment the ball dropped on the surface, he quickly looked towards the robot camera in bemusement and asked the camera team to put it to pause.

Steve Smith had lost his concentration because of a rolling camera in Lahore.
In a funny change of mind, however, Steve Smith was later seen laughing at his reaction on the giant screen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and went on to mend ways with the robot with a signature on the top.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recorded the incident in a clip posted on their official Twitter handle, where Smith could be seen laughing the next day before giving the camera his touch and signature in an amusing incident.

This is not the first time that an on-ground camera has gotten under the skin of a cricketer and triggered some interesting reaction out of them.
Usually, it is the flying camera attached to the two square ends of the stadium, which in its effort to take closed-in pictures and visuals of the players and on-field action has at times ended up colliding with the turf and even worse, the cricketers.
But on this occasion, the robot rolling across the area behind the ropes led to a near mishappening.
What is most interesting here is the fact that Steve Smith lost his concentration and felt disturbed even as the camera was nowhere near the sightscreen at the back of the bowler.
Batters losing concentration because of some untimely movement behind the sight screen has been a frequent sight on the cricket field. But very rarely have they lost concentration because a camera is rolling along the ropes through the on or the off-side, far far away from their sight and the playing arena.
