Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana were involved in a fun-activity during Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) training session before the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL). The duo took part in an eight-ball challenge during KKR’s practice. Singh bowled from over the wicket and around the wicket to get Rana out and as per him, he was successful two times.

But Rana managed to take revenge by smashing him for four massive sixes, engaging in some fun banter along the way. Singh also went up to head coach Brendon McCullum and told him about the competition between him and Rana. In the end, McCullum had a laugh about it. The Knight Riders’ players looked in a jolly mood and seamed geared up to take part in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

Prior to the mega auction on February 12 and 13, the Knight Riders released both Singh and Rana. Both players joined KKR in 2018 and played four seasons for them. While Rana was a more regular member of the team, Singh didn’t quite make it to the playing eleven a lot of times. The Knights retained Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer.

In the auction, Singh registered himself at a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Thereafter, KKR had a mini bidding-war with Lucknow Super Giants before bagging him at a price of INR 55 lakhs. The Men in Gold and Purple went hammer and tongs to get back Rana. The left-hander was there with the Mumbai Indians (MI) for three seasons from 2015 to 2017.

But after his stupendous show in 2017, KKR roped him in. After earning INR 3.40 crores per season at the Knights, he was released. In the auction, Rana registered himself at a base price of INR 1 crore. Thereafter, MI and KKR fought hard to secure the services of the southpaw.

At INR 5 crore, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) put one bid before backing out. MI also threw in the towel after which the Super Giants started bidding. But in the end, KKR drafted in Rana at a price of INR 8 crores. The Knights are set to play the tournament opener against CSK on March 26.
