MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT! Sri Lankan Cricketer gets three out of four charges DROPPED in Sexual-assault case

Of the four sexual assault charges on the Sri Lankan batter, three have been dropped by the court.

Danushka Gunathilaka’s career has been full of controversies, as something new and unpleasant pops up against him after every regular interval. Among all the current generation of Sri Lankan cricketers, Danushka has been the centre of attention for his unnecessary and execrable activities.

During the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Danushka Gunathilaka was arrested by the local authorities of Sydney due to owning charges of sexual assault in November. He was charged with complaints like non-consensual choking and digital penetration, which clearly come under the criminal act.

Danushka Gunathilaka met a woman on a dating app known as Tinder, and the duo went for a drink and pizza. Then the pair went to the woman’s home in the suburb of Rose Bay, where Gunathilaka sexually assaulted the lady four times on November 2, as mentioned in the police facts sheet.

However, Gunathilaka was granted bail by the court, but he has been required to stay back in Australia while the legal process is underway. While the case has been delayed several times, Danushka will now move to court on July 13 with his lawyer Alen Sahinovic.

Danushka Gunathilaka free from three sexual-assault charges

In the latest development, it is now known that the Sri Lankan batter Danushka Gunathilaka has been provided relief, as three out of four rape charges against him have been dropped by the court. The update was reported by The Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday morning (May 18).

“Prosecutor Hugh Buddin, for the Director of Public Prosecutions, told the court one charge had been certified but the remaining three counts of sexual intercourse without consent had been withdrawn,” read the official statement.

However, the fourth charge that has not been dropped is severe and, hence, not withdrawn with the other three charges. According to the fourth charge, Danushka Gunathilaka was involved in forceful sexual intercourse, as Gunathilaka tried to choke the woman by putting his one hand around her neck for some seconds.

“The complainant was too afraid to do anything,” asserts the police facts claim. While Danushka Gunathilaka is on bail, he has been asked to report to the police daily.
