Hardik Pandya’s bowling under scrutiny in India nets ahead of Bangladesh T20Is

Hardik Pandya took part in India's training session under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Morne Morkel.

India’s premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to return in the tricolour as India take on Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series after registering a 2-0 clean sweep over the Bangla Tigers in the longest format.

However, ahead of his return, the 30-year-old right-hander was observed minutely and came under scrutiny from India’s new bowling coach Morne Morkel.

Hardik participated in India’s training session before the first T20I match in Gwalior, where he had a rigorous session under the supervision of new South African coach Morne Morkel, according to a report by the Indian Express. The report further mentions that Morkel was dissatisfied with Hardik’s tendency to bowl too close to the stumps and regularly offered him feedback after each delivery.

Morkel also appeared to discussed with Hardik about his release point and the all-rounder accepted the advice positively. Afterward, Morkel shifted his attention to the other bowlers during the net session.

Hardik Pandya yet to make a return to ODI setup

Despite being a regular in the ODI lineup, the all-rounder was not included in the India squad for the three-match one-day series against Asian rivals Sri Lanka in August earlier this year.

His last ODI appearance was during the ODI World Cup on home soil last year, where he suffered an injury while bowling in a group stage match against Bangladesh. This injury ultimately forced him to withdraw from the tournament.
