Jammu & Kashmir Batter Scores the First Double Century of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Season

Shubham Khajuria has accounted for more than 50% of his team's runs so far and he has done so by smashing 24 fours and four sixes.

Jammu & Kashmir’s top-order batter Shubham Khajuria became the first player to score a double century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.

Khajuria brought up his double ton on Day 2 of the ongoing match against Maharashtra. He lost his opening partner right Abhinav Puri in the first over of the first day of play for a duck, but he carried on, building important partnerships with each batter who walked in next.

None of the other J&K batters could cross 40, except wicketkeeper-batter Shivansh Sharma, who is unbeaten on 55 at the time of writing this article.

Shubham Khajuria Played an attacking knock

Khajuria has accounted for more than 50% of his team’s runs so far and he has done so by smashing 24 fours and four sixes, which constitute around 60% of his total runs in this innings.

As far as the other batters go, Shubham Singh Pundir looked good during his brief knock of 37 and skipper Paras Dogra also batted well for his 30. IPL star Abdul Samad looked solid during his outing of 23, but none of them could convert their starts into big knocks.

That’s why Khajuria’s knock turned out to be so important. Along with Shivansh, he has added 158 runs for the sixth wicket, taking J&K’s score to 377/5 at the time of writing this article.

As far as the Maharashtra bowlers go, HA Walunj has picked up two wickets, whereas the likes of Rajneesh Gurbani, Mukesh Choudhary and Arshin Kulkarni have picked up a wicket each.
