Young Mumbai Indians star named India A captain for Emerging Teams Asia Cup

India A will start the tournament against the arch-rivals Pakistan A on Saturday (October 19).

India A’s squad for the upcoming Emerging Asia Cup has been announced, with several quality players getting selected. A Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, who was among the most consistent run-scorers for the team in the previous cycle, has been named as the captain of the side.

Tilak Varma, the left-handed batter of India, will lead a strong 15-man squad in the Emerging Asia Cup 2024. He has played 20 matches for India across both white-ball formats and has three fifties for the Men in Blue.

Other Mumbai Indians players in the squad include Nehal Wadhera, who might be among the uncapped retentions of the team ahead of the auction, and Anshul Kamboj, whose recent rise has been significant as a pace bowler. Prabhsimran Singh, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) star, has also found a place in the squad.

In fact, there are several other players from Punjab in the squad, named Abhishek Sharma and Ramandeep Singh, who were very impressive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ayush Badoni and Anuj Rawat, who have impressed in patches in the IPL, are also included in the side.

Vaibhav Arora and Rasikh Salam among pacers; Sai Kishore and Rahul Chahar as spinners

Vaibhav Arora, a new-ball bowler who can swing the white cherry, and Rasikh Salam, who bowled well for Delhi Capitals this IPL season, are among the pacers for the tournament. Both are highly skilled with the ball and have got the reward for their consistent performances in the domestic arena.

Meanwhile, Sai Kishore, among the finest spinners in the domestic arena, who has been very consistent, also gets a place in the team. Rahul Chahar, the leg-spinner, and Hrithik Shokeen, the off-spinner, are other spinners in the squad.

Overall, the squad is promising, with most of them already stamping their authority by performing well in the IPL. They will go into the tournament as one of the favourites, for they have all bases covered.

India A will start the tournament against the arch-rivals Pakistan A on Saturday (October 19). They will also play against United Arab Emirates and Oman later in the competition.
