Sanju Samson reveals he fulfilled his mentor’s wish by hitting 5 Sixes in an Over against Bangladesh

It was a typical Sanju Samson knock where every bowler disappeared, no matter what they tried throughout his stay and how many times they changed their plans.

Hyderabad witnessed a Sanju Samson special during the third T20I between India and Bangladesh, where he was in full flow. When in a mood, he plays all those shots you’d want from a batter, most of them making you go awe.

It was a typical Sanju Samson knock where every bowler disappeared, no matter what they tried throughout his stay and how many times they changed their plans. He hit as many as 19 boundaries, including fours and sixes, during his 47-ball stay, and just when you thought nothing could be better than this, he proved you wrong with his following shot.

There were so many outrageous moments during his knock, but the best part probably came during the tenth over when he dispatched as many as five sixes off Rishad Hossain in consecutive deliveries to take 30 runs from the over. It was a hitting of the highest order, and the bowler must also be blamed for being predictable and one-dimensional with his plans and bowling everything in his slot.

Barring the first delivery, a dot, Hossain bowled hit-me lengths and was rightly taken to the cleaners. That turned out to be the most expensive over of the game, and Rishad didn’t come to bowl again in the fixture.

Sanju Samson fulfilled his mentor’s wish by hitting five sixes

Following the game’s conclusion, Murali Kartik, who hosted the post-match conference, asked Sanju Samson about those five sixes. The batter revealed that he had been trying it for a year, and his coach felt he could hit five sixes, so he finally fulfilled his wish.

“My mentor kept telling me, ‘You have to hit 5 sixes in an over, I’m waiting for it.’ So, I have been chasing it for the last one year, and it happened today,” exclaimed Samson after the game.

His mentor would be the happiest one seeing Samson hit it. He must have seen something in his batting that led to such a big demand.

Samson won the Player of the Match award for his blitzkrieg effort. It was a perfect wicket for his shot-making expertise, and after getting a couple of starts earlier in the series, he finally converted one into a massive figure to help India complete a clean sweep over Bangladesh.
