Pant unfortunately fell just one short of a well-deserved century, got out on 99
On the third day of India vs New Zealand first test, Rishabh Pant smashes an insane six of 107m that hit the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium and shocked every single fans and the players at the stadium.
This happened in the 3rd ball of the 86th over when Southee came around the wicket and bowled at the stumps. Rishabh Pant dropped to one knee, picked it from outside off-stump, and slog-swept it over square leg for a monstrous 107m six, hitting the roof of the stadium. Glenn Phillips was left jaw-dropped, watching the ball sail over the rope. Even Rahul, at the non-striker’s end, couldn’t believe his eyes.

Rishabh Pant was batting on 90 at the time, and it’s fair to say only he could pull off such a shot in that situation. He was in sublime touch, middling almost every ball, but unfortunately fell just one short of a well-deserved century, getting out on 99.

There was concern whether he would bat properly, as he had taken a hit on his knee while keeping, the same knee where he had a surgery. Yet, despite the scare, Pant delivered a brilliant performance and almost scored a century.
Talking about the match, India began the day trailing by 125 runs, with Pant joining Sarfaraz, who was on 70. The duo built a crucial 170+ partnership, putting India in a strong position, with Sarfaraz reaching 150. However, once Sarfaraz got out, India began to collapse. Pant, who was batting brilliantly, got out on 99, followed by KL Rahul’s dismissal for a low score. From 408/4, India crumbled to 462 all out, setting New Zealand a small target of just 106 runs.
With half an hour left in the day’s play, Bumrah troubled Tom Latham right from the first over in overcast conditions. He appealed on the third ball for lbw, but the delivery had pitched outside leg. Soon after, the umpires decided to stop play as it grew darker. Rohit and Kohli looked visibly frustrated, but as they reached the dugout, heavy rain began, leading to play being called off for the day.
With only 106 runs required on the final day, New Zealand holds the upper hand in the Test match.
