Ramandeep Singh, who played a crucial role in making KKR champions in IPL 2024, came up with one of the best catches ever against Pakistan A. Nishant Sandhu bowled a slightly shorter-length delivery, to which Yasir went off the backfoot and pulled hard towards the deep midwicket region.
The timing was pristine, and the shot was hit powerfully, but Ramandeep made a timely dive and went with his right hand towards the catch. While the ball was dying on him, Ramandeep did well to get some hand on it, and while going down, he ensured not to let his elbow hit the ground hard.
Hence, the ball didn’t balloon out of his hands and made a full slide with the ball in his right hand to complete a marvellous catch. He did so many things correctly in a matter of few seconds during that catch – timely dive, going with one hand to extend his reach, and not letting his elbow hit the turf.
The pitch for the game between India A and Pakistan A is a belter for batting, and India A batters ensured making full use of it. They batted first and piled a massive 183/8 in 20 overs, setting a target of 184 for the opponent.
Pakistan A didn’t have a great start, for they lost their captain Mohammad Haris on just the second delivery of the innings before Omair Yousuf also departed quickly. Yasir Khan and Qasim Akram tried forming a prudent partnership.
They stretched a 54-run stand before a sensational effort from Ramandeep ended Yasir’s innings prematurely. Qasim couldn’t last longer, either, for he departed in the same over as well.
By the end of 13 overs, Pakistan A are 103/4 and require another 81 runs in seven overs. They have a few quality batters left and will fancy their chances, but India A are favourites currently.
