Virat Kohli also rushed in, supporting Sarfaraz's decision.
During the ongoing IND vs NZ 2nd Test, India newbie Sarfaraz Khan forced Rohit Sharma into taking a DRS against Kiwi batter Will Young. Compelled by Sarfaraz, Rohit gave in and replays later showed a spike. The incident happened on the final ball of the 24th over.
Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a turning delivery down the leg side, which Will Young tried to flick but appeared to miss, with the ball landing in wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s gloves. Ashwin made a mild appeal, but the umpire promptly ruled it not out.
However, Sarfaraz Khan, positioned at short leg, was convinced he heard a noise and quickly approached captain Rohit Sharma, taking the initiative and urging for a review. Virat Kohli also rushed in, supporting the decision, and Rohit called for the review with only five seconds left. The decision proved correct, as UltraEdge detected a slight spike when the ball passed near Young’s glove.
