Mitchell Santner’s golden arm strikes again, runs out Rishabh Pant for a duck [WATCH]

The incident happened on the second delivery of the 23rd over during India's innings.

During the ongoing IND vs NZ 2nd Test, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a disappointing outing in the middle after getting dismissed for a duck due to a runout.

The incident happened on the second delivery of the 23rd over during India’s innings.

Chasing 359, India needed a big partnership to keep the hosts in a strong position but Pant’s dismissal put India in a spot of bother as they were reduced to 127 for 4.

Kohli who was on strike, pushed a Ajaz Patel delivery towards off side and dashed for a single as Pant responded positively to it. The decision was surprising as Pant was standing at the non-striker’s end and could see the ball going straight into Santner’s hand yet decided to go for the run.

Rishabh Pant, who was running towards the danger end eventually couldn’t reach the crease in time as Mitchell Santner produced an inch-perfect throw to wicketkeeper Tom Blundell. It was a cheap wicket to give away from India’s point of view as it was an extremely risky attempt to take.

Check the video of the dismissal below.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fireworks keep India’s chances alive

Speaking about the match, the Indian team will need to produce a batting masterclass to chase down the steep target. Young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the hosts a good start with a fiery knock of 65-ball 77.

However, there haven’t been any other meaningful contributions so far with skipper Rohit Sharma managing only 8 runs while Shubman Gill adding 23 runs more.

At the time of writing this report, the India scoreboard reads 145-4 in 28.2 overs with Virat Kohli and Washington Sundar currently at the crease.
