Ravindra Jadeja made a hilarious response to India’s outrageous collapse in the last few moments on day one of the Mumbai Test against New Zealand in the post-match press conference.
“We did not get much time [to react], everything happened in 10 minutes,” Jadeja, who took a five-wicket haul, told laughing.
“But it happens, it is a team game, we cannot blame anyone. We can blame everyone, but the next batsmen, we will have to make small partnerships tomorrow morning. And we will have to do as much as we can do in the second innings.”
India went from 78/1 to 84/4 at stumps, losing three wickets in the space of eight balls and six runs. While Jaiswal fell to a heedless reverse sweep, nightwatchman Mohammed Siraj was trapped plumb in front (and went on to fruitlessly review his decision), while Virat Kohli was gone to a suicidal run out.
