First ever whitewash at home: Rohit Sharma and India gets flak after horrible batting show leads to series whitewash

This historic 3-0 defeat marks India’s first-ever whitewash in a home series of three or more Tests.

History has been made in the third Test match in Mumbai as New Zealand defeats India, clinching the series 3-0.

Before this series, New Zealand arrived from Sri Lanka after losing a two-match Test series 2-0. However, from the very start of this three-match series against India, New Zealand managed to kept India on the backfoot.

For India, this series has been nothing short of a nightmare with the bat. In the first Test in Bengaluru, they were bowled out for just 46 runs in the first innings, ultimately losing by eight wickets.

The struggles continued in the second Test in Pune, where they managed only 156 in their first innings and fell short by 113 runs while chasing 359 in the second.

The third Test in Mumbai followed a similar pattern, despite an impressive effort to bowl New Zealand out for 177 in their second innings, India couldn’t chase down the modest target of 147 and lost by 25 runs. This historic 3-0 defeat marks India’s first-ever whitewash in a home series of three or more Tests.

India’s streak of Test dominance at home broken by New Zealand

Before this series, India held a 36-year undefeated streak at home against New Zealand in Test matches. However, that record was broken when New Zealand secured victory in the first Test. Additionally, India had not lost a Test series at home in 12 years, but with their defeat in the second Test, this long-standing record was also broken.

The losses didn’t stop there, India had never suffered a whitewash in a home series of three or more Tests. But following the third Test defeat, even that record was shattered, marking an unprecedented setback.

This series has become one of the worst Test series performances for India on home soil, breaking multiple records and leaving fans and critics questioning the team’s performance.

Following the horror show, Rohit Sharma and Team India are facing backlash as their dismal batting performances have led to a series whitewash, leaving fans frustrated and vocal on social media.
