5 Indian Finishers who will be in Demand at IPL 2025 Auction

Many teams have focused on retaining top-order batters, bowlers, and middle-order players. As a result, several Indian finishers have been left out and are now available in the auction.

The IPL 2025 auction is just around the corner, and all ten teams are preparing to build stronger squads for the new season. While most teams have retained their key players, they have also made some surprising releases.

Many teams have focused on retaining top-order batters, bowlers, and middle-order players. As a result, several Indian finishers have been left out and are now available in the auction.

These players have great potential, and many teams will be looking to pick them as they can make a big impact in the tournament.

Let’s look at the 5 Indian finishers who will be in Demand at IPL 2025 Auction.

Abdul Samad

Abdul Samad is known for his hard-hitting ability, especially in the death overs, making him a great choice for teams needing a finisher. While his performances in IPL 2024 were a bit inconsistent, he has shown the potential to turn games around. In 50 IPL matches, he has scored 577 runs, including 355 runs at a strike rate of 146.09 over the last three seasons when batting between positions 5 to 8.

With one RTM card left, Sunrisers Hyderabad can only use it on an uncapped player. They can use it on Samad if they wish to bring him back.

Ashutosh Sharma

Ashutosh Sharma made a significant impact for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024, sharing the spotlight with Shashank Singh. Taking on the demanding finisher role in his maiden IPL season, Ashutosh proved to be one of the tournament’s standout talents. Despite facing some of the best bowlers in the league, he displayed confidence and maturity.

Ashutosh’s ability to target unconventional areas of the field and handle high-pressure situations made him a game-changer. He scored 189 runs in 11 matches at an impressive strike rate of 167.25, excelling in the lower middle order.

However, despite his stellar performances, Punjab Kings opted not to retain him, instead choosing Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran as their uncapped players. Without the option to use an RTM card on Ashutosh, the franchise will have to compete with others in the auction if they wish to re-sign him.

Jitesh Sharma

Punjab’s decision to release Jitesh Sharma was unexpected, given his aggressive batting style and impressive strike rate of 151 over three IPL seasons. Playing primarily as a finisher, Jitesh has appeared in 40 IPL matches, scoring 730 runs, with 654 of those coming from positions 5 to 8.

Although he has represented India in 9 T20Is, his international form has been inconsistent. However, his IPL stats make him a promising player for the auction, with his standout season being IPL 2023, where he scored 309 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 156. With four RTM cards remaining, Punjab could use one to retain him if they wish.

Abhinav Manohar

Abhinav Manohar, who played for Gujarat Titans, is an underrated talent in domestic cricket and has yet to fully make his mark in the IPL. Manohar’s standout performance in the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2024, where he scored 507 runs in 10 matches, has brought him into the spotlight again.

With 231 runs from 19 IPL matches, mostly coming from lower-order positions, he is expected to attract attention in the auction. Since Gujarat Titans have retained two uncapped players and cannot use an RTM card for him, they will need to compete with other franchises to secure his services.

Manoj Bhandage

Manoj Bhandage is considered one of the most promising young players. He was bought by RCB for INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction but did not get a chance to play in two seasons with the team.

Before the IPL 2025 auction RCB released him. Even with the Impact Player rule, he could not break into the playing eleven, although he reportedly performed well in the nets.

Bhandage made a name for himself with his strong hitting as a finisher during the Maharaja Trophy, a T20 tournament in Karnataka. In the 2023 edition, he scored 164 runs with an impressive strike rate of 192.94 and took 7 wickets. He performed even better in 2024, scoring 292 runs with a strike rate of 213.13, the highest in the tournament, and also claimed 8 wickets. His growing all-round skills make him an exciting option for the upcoming auction.
