The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the few franchises that are yet to lift the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The IPL 2025 auction will thus be a brilliant opportunity for the Bengaluru-based outfit to get a chance to revamp their squad and form a lethal attack.
Runners-up in three editions (2009, 2011, 2016), RCB will hope to go the extra distance this time around and finally break the jinx. They retained only three players – Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal – ahead of the auction for a combined sum of INR 37 crores and entered the auction with INR 83 crores.

Although they have mostly been silent at the beginning, they made their first buy in England all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who is a likely replacement for the Aussie Glenn Maxwell. RCB’s second addition was another English cricketer- the explosive wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt.

RCB also won the battle for Jitesh Sharma and outbid PBKS after they activated their RTM to retain their former vice-captain. Their fourth buy in the IPL 2025 auction was Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood.
