Based on the squad assembled, here's a look at how PBKS might arrange their strongest playing XI for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) retained only two players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. They only kept Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, and no wonder were among the most active teams during the auction.
They purchased 23 players from the auction and have 25 players overall. Their biggest move was acquiring Shreyas Iyer after intense bidding for INR 26.75 crores.
They also acquired Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal at INR 18 crores each before purchasing Marcus Stoinis for INR 11 crores. On Day 2, PBKS went hard for Marco Jansen and included him for INR 7 crores in other big moves.

The acquisition of Shreyas Iyer at such a hefty rate suggests they are looking at him as their next captain. No other player from the current squad looks as equipped as him for this role.
