Before the auction, they retained four players and built a solid core around them. While they bid for most players, DC were prudent with their selection and ensured they got everyone they wanted.

Their biggest move was buying KL Rahul for a whopping INR 14 crores, while Mitchell Starc was their second biggest buy at INR 11.75 crores. DC also got a few players from the last season like Jake Fraser-McGurk, Harry Brook, and Mukesh Kumar and would be pleased with their efforts in the auction.

• They have only one LHB in the top six and might need to promote Axar. However, that will disrupt Abishek’s batting position.
• They lack a quality enforcer for the middle overs.

Who will be the DC Captain in IPL 2025?

The best option is to hand the captaincy option to KL Rahul. He has led multiple franchises and has done well as a captain. Axar Patel is another option but doesn’t have much experience as a leader.

Even when Rishabh Pant was absent, DC chose David Warner as their captain. Hence, DC are likely to make Rahul their next captain, with Axar as his deputy.
