Chasing 177 for win, their team was in a tight spot requiring 24 off the last 4 balls
A Punjab Kings (PBKS) star and a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cricketer combined together to pull off an incredible heist in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to help Punjab outclass Mizoram in a Super Over thriller despite looking like conceding the game at one stage.
Chasing 177 for win, Punjab were in a tight spot requiring 24 off the last 4 balls. This was when PBKS’ Harpreet Brar took the onus on himself and slammed three sixes and a boundary along with an extra from wide ball to level the scores and take the game into Super Over.
In the Super Over, KKR’s Ramandeep Singh gave a testament to his sheer power as he took over the responsibility and continued the onslaught, slamming a six and a four off KC Cariappa as Punjab posted 15 runs.
During the defence, Punjab fast bowler Baltej Singh kept nailing the yorker length to deny Mizoram a happy ending as they were restricted to 7/1.

Speaking about both the players, PBKS bought back Harpreet Brar at the recent IPL 2025 auction while Ramandeep was retained by KKR before the retention deadline.
PBKS acquired Brar’s service for INR 1.5 crores while on the other hand, KKR decided to stick with Ramandeep by paying him INR 4 crore.

Notably, Ramandeep recently also made his India debut during the South Africa T20I tour following a promising display in the previous IPL 2024 season where he scored 125 runs at a blistering strike rate of 201.61.
The duo’s knock in the SMAT will definitely give them a morale boost ahead of the IPL 2025 edition and they will hope to maintain this form in the next season.
