A new Mumbai Indians (MI) sensation, who was bought by the franchise for a price of INR 4.8 crores at the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, seemed to be an omnipresent character by turning up in two different matches in two different tournaments on consecutive days.
Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar, just days after earning his IPL contract, surprised cricket fans when he turned up for the Team Abu Dhabi franchise in the T10 League on Saturday (November 30), a day after he played for the Afghanistan Under-19 team in the ongoing ACC Under-19 Men’s Asia Cup in the UAE the previous evening.
Ghazanfar delivered an impressive performance as Afghanistan U19’s most economical bowler in Dubai. He bowled 10 overs, including a maiden, and gave away just 25 runs while taking a wicket, helping to limit Bangladesh U19 to 228 for nine in their 50 overs. Despite this effort, Afghanistan fell short in their chase, losing by 45 runs.

On the other hand, Allah Ghazanfar next turned up for an immediate assignment, travelling to the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, located an hour and 15 minutes away from Dubai to represent Team Abu Dhabi in their group-stage match against Northern Warriors. The 18-year-old spinner delivered an impressive performance, recording figures of 1/10 in two overs as Abu Dhabi secured an eight-wicket victory, their fourth win in seven games
Speaking about the 18-year-old’s credentials, the young spinner has recently been in the spotlight, showcasing his talent for the senior Afghanistan team in recent ODI victories against Bangladesh and South Africa. In the opening match of the three-game series against Bangladesh, Ghazanfar achieved his career-best ODI figures of 6/26. He further contributed with four wickets across three matches during Afghanistan’s 2-1 series win over South Africa in the UAE this September.
Ghazanfar also made a significant impact in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup T20 held in Oman last month, where Afghanistan A clinched their maiden title. His remarkable figures of 2/10 were instrumental in Afghanistan A’s semi-final triumph over India A.
