He is the only bowler ever to achieve the feat.
India boasts of a rich pool of young talents and it came to the fore once again when an 18-year-old put up an extraordinary bowling display to clinch all 10 wickets of the opposition during a match between Bihar and Rajasthan in the ongoing U19 Cooch Behar Trophy.
Bihar teenager Suman Kumar also took a hat trick and entered the record books by becoming only the third cricketer to achieve the feat in Cooch Behar Trophy history. However, he is the only bowler ever to take all ten scalps and pick up a hat trick at the same time.
Suman achieved a hat-trick in the 36th over of the innings, taking the wickets of Mohit Bhagnani, Anas, and Sachin Sharma. This remarkable performance has brought his tally to 23 wickets in just four matches during the ongoing domestic tournament.
In his spell of 33.5 overs against Rajasthan, Suman delivered 20 maiden overs while giving away only 53 runs.
Following the milestone, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Tiwari was quoted as saying by TOI,
“Suman Kumar’s historic achievement of taking all 10 wickets in an innings is a moment of immense pride for Bihar cricket. His dedication and talent are a testament to the growing cricketing ecosystem in Bihar, which is now producing remarkable players capable of making a mark on the national stage.”
Speaking about the match, the contest between Bihar and Rajasthan concluded in a draw but Bihar secured three points by gaining a first-innings lead.
Bihar’s next game is scheduled against Maharashtra on December 6 at the Ch Sambhajinagar Ground in Aurangabad.
