Mitchell Starc Reacts to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Sledge Calling Him “Too Slow” [WATCH]

Mitchell Starc has finally revealed his side of story on Jaiswal's comments.

During India’s second innings of the first Test in Perth, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mitchell Starc were involved in a cheeky banter in the 19th over. As Starc bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, Jaiswal went behind the line of the ball and defended it with a straight bat.

Earlier, Jaiswal had played an audacious flick shot on a similar delivery, so when Starc bowled the same line and length, he asked why he didn’t play that shot again. Then, Jaiswal replied, “You are bowling too slow,” and the comment went viral across social media platforms.

Starc has now reacted to Jaiswal’s comments, stating he didn’t hear him saying those words, adding he doesn’t react much to sledges now. He said he just laughed, and the two moved on with their work.

“I didn’t actually hear him say ‘I bowl too slow’. I don’t say too much to people these days. I might have back in the day, but now I just sort of get on with it. He played that flick shot, and I think I bowled pretty much the same ball, and he defended it. I said, ‘Where’s the flick shot?’ and he just laughed at me. So, we left it just there.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal sets the tone for the series in the Perth Test

On the first day of the first Test between Australia and India, Yashasvi Jaiswal couldn’t score big and was dismissed on an 8-ball duck by Mitchell Starc. However, Jaiswal made it up with a fantastic knock in the second innings, scoring 161 runs in 297 deliveries, including 15 boundaries and three maximums.

It was a perfect way to start the series for Jaiswal, and he has set the tone. He played with a compact technique and showed the ability to ace tough conditions Down Under.

However, the next game will present a fresh challenge to Jaiswal since he opens the innings. The new ball generally moves more, and it won’t be easy for him to succeed.

The Aussie attack will come hard at him, so it will be interesting to see how he performs. That said, Jaiswal will do everything to play another big knock in Adelaide.
