With seven overseas players now in their squad, let's take a look at the four who could be first-choice picks in their playing XI for IPL 2025.

Delhi Capitals were one of the busiest teams in the IPL 2025 auction, showing clear plans and making smart choices to build a strong squad.

They made some big moves, including spending heavily on top players and bringing back a few from last season. With seven overseas players now in their squad, let’s take a look at the four who could be first-choice picks in their playing XI for IPL 2025.

Jake Fraser-McGurk

Jake Fraser-McGurk, initially released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, was reacquired by the franchise for INR 9 crore. The bidding saw fierce competition from Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, with Punjab briefly holding the highest bid at INR 5.50 crore before Delhi used their Right to Match (RTM) card.

When Punjab raised their bid to INR 9 crore, Delhi exercised their RTM again to secure Fraser-McGurk. A vital player for the Capitals in previous seasons, he will now return as a key part of the team and is expected to feature prominently in the playing XI for IPL 2025.

Harry Brook

Delhi Capitals acquired Harry Brook for INR 6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. The young and talented batter is highly regarded for his ability to tackle both pace and spin, making him a versatile and promising asset.

Brook was initially signed by Delhi for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction after being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad but missed the season due to personal reasons. Recognizing his potential, DC brought him back in the IPL 2025 auction. He is expected to shine on Delhi’s batting-friendly pitches and will likely be among the first-choice players in the playing XI.

Tristan Stubbs

Delhi Capitals retained Tristan Stubbs for INR 10 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, a decision that highlights his value to the team. Stubbs was outstanding in the previous season, showcasing his ability to excel against both pace and spin. With youth on his side, he represents a promising long-term investment for the franchise.

In addition to his batting prowess, Stubbs adds versatility with his part-time bowling and wicketkeeping skills, making him a complete package. He is expected to be a key player and one of the first-choice overseas picks in DC’s playing XI for the upcoming season.

Mitchell Starc

Delhi Capitals secured Mitchell Starc for INR 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders, where he played last season. Starc, once the most expensive IPL player when KKR bought him for INR 24.75 crore in 2024, attracted interest from teams like MI, KKR, DC, and RCB before Delhi won the bidding war.
