Things heated up on day five of the recently concluded second Test between England and India at Lord’s. India were struggling early in the day but Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah defied the England bowlers to help India to get to 298/8 before they declared. The Indian bowlers stepped up beautifully as well to bowl them to a stunning win.

However, the tempers flared throughout the day between these two sides. There was constant chatter and banter between the players. Irrespective of when India batted or England batted, the chatter barely stopped.

And it all started from the time Jasprit Bumrah bowled that hostile over against James Anderson when he kept peppering the veteran England bowler with short-pitched stuff. Things haven’t settled down since. Anderson has constantly had something to say when he’s been in the middle.

Meanwhile, the Indian team haven’t backed down either and it is their captain who has led this charge of giving it back to England players.

On the fifth morning, the England players were having a go at Shami and Bumrah when the premier Indian pace-bowling duo were batting. Hence, Kohli didn’t shy away from giving the England players a taste of their own medicine. While it may look like Kohli may be exaggerating and overdoing the aggression, but that is how the Delhi lad is.

He has been fist-pumping and celebrating every wicket in this second innings with utmost energy and has been right in the face of the England players. It is no secret that When Ollie Robinson came out to bat, the Indian skipper welcomed him to the crease with a special message.

Kohli was waiting near the striker’s end till Robinson arrived and welcomed him to the batting crease with a sledge. He was caught on the stump mic saying, “Boss, how boring was your innings? Eh? How boring was your innings? This guy (Robinson) laughed at me when I missed a cover drive. Now, he is playing to save a home Test”.
