Virat Kohli became the 71st player in Test history to play 100 Test matches when India won the toss and opted to bat first in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali on Friday. Kohli, who was given a felicitation by head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the match, had to walk in to bat in the first session with openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal dismissed.

He walked out to a deafening roar from the packed crowd in Mohali with the tickets, up to allowed capacity, sold out before the Test began. Kohli walking out to bat was received with huge admiration on social media too with fans pouring over the visuals.
