Dotball Fantasy Tips: Mumbai v Chennai – Chennai look for the shortest path to final
Should you have Hardik Pandya in your squad or take a punt with Krunal Pandya? Is it going to be a Malinga and Bumrah show again? Which of the Chennai spinners should be your captain? All your fantasy queries answered.
MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
The Chennai track has barely changed its nature through the tournament and it should remain slow and low again; it probably might be just a bit better for batting but will still cause plenty of problems.
Mumbai currently seem to have all the momentum. Chennai lost their last league game against Punjab, Mumbai won theirs against Kolkata to have the psychological edge of finishing number one on the table. Mumbai have beaten Chennai twice this season, including snapping Dhoni’s team’s 9 game home winning streak when they outclassed them at this very venue. They defended 155 runs in style mainly thanks to their mainline quicks Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah who combined for 6 wickets in that match. The good news for Mumbai is that both bowlers have looked in great form heading into the playoffs - they had an excellent outing against Kolkata - and with the Pandya brothers fulfilling their roles perfectly Mumbai could not asked for better balance. Chennai will be a little concerned at their recent form - they ended the season with 3 losses and 2 wins and their batting was patchy for the most part. On Tuesday, if their slower bowlers deliver again, they might still hold all the cards in these conditions, but Mumbai will come equipped with counter measures.
Fantasy Tips and Pointers
Ambati Rayudu has blown hot and blown cold all season and the return of a meager 219 runs in 14 games does not accurately reflect the kind of impact he can have. But playoff Chennai are a different beast altogether and they often have their key players delivering. Rayudu is due for a big knock and he might need to anchor the innings on Tuesday giving him the best chance to play one. The players you cannot overlook are the Pandya brothers. Hardik has been spectacular, but doing a stealth MVP job is Krunal who already has 10 wickets in the season, two of them here in Chennai. And then of course there are the spinners - Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh, two other must picks. However a game changer maybe Ravindra Jadeja with his left arm spin. He usually delivers in crunch situations for Chennai and this will be no unfamiliar setting for him.

An exceptionally competitive and close game is on the cards given how evenly these teams are matched. With the pitch likely to be really slow, Chennai hold the faintest of advantages.
Dotball Prediction XIs:
Preferred team for Dotball Head to Head / Small Contests:
Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock
Batsmen: Faf Du Plessis, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina
All-Rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya
Bowlers: Imran Tahir, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah
Captain: Hardik Pandya - his 373 runs and 12 wickets are straight up MVP numbers and his big game temperament makes him a great pick
Vice-Captain: Imran Tahir, has been supremely consistent; he is the leading wicket-taker for Chennai with 21 wickets at an economy rate 6.03.
Preferred team for Dotball Rumble / Grand Contests:
Batsmen: Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Keiron Pollard, Rohit Sharma
All-Rounders: Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja
Bowlers: Harbhajan Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar
Captain: Ravindra Jadeja is always a worthy punt at Chennai. Not only might he be needed for a cameo with the bat, he also has 12 wickets in the season.
Vice-Captain: Quinton de Kock has not been always great to watch or consistent but still has 462 runs in the season. If he explodes off the blocks, it will be a worthy chance to take.
