Fantasy Preview, Playing XI and Player Recommendations for Mumbai Indians Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders match (Dotball format)

Dotball Fantasy Tips: Mumbai v Kolkata – Last chance saloon for Kolkata

Can Andre Russell ever have a bad day at the office? Should you make Hardik Pandya your captain? Or should it be a bowler? All your fantasy queries answered.

Venue

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Conditions

The pitch has been a belter to bat on all season but should be quick enough to encourage the fast bowlers.

The Preview

Kolkata will still have their destiny in their hands in the final game because they can win well and qualify on a better net run rate. Standing in their way are Mumbai whom they have already beaten once this season. That game was crucial to Kolkata’s bounce back from losing six straight and they did in style putting up a mammoth 232 on the board. In this final game of the regular season, they may want to bat second for net run rate reasons (they will know exactly what they have to do to ensure better NRR) but they might not mind either way given the form their batsmen like Shubhman Gill and Andre Russell are in. Kolkata have the firepower to take the fight to an already qualified Mumbai but the home side also will be eyeing a win to finish among the top 2. It is Mumbai’s bowling that will hold the key again and if Bumrah and Malinga come up with the goods again as they have all season, it might be curtains for Kolkata.

Fantasy Tips and Pointers

Shubhman Gill is obviously the form player - he has been incredible since he was promoted to the opening slot and of course Andre Russell has become a fantasy must pick no matter what the rest of the squad composition. But the secondary bowlers might hold the key in this game so you may want to look at the likes of Harry Gurney and Sandeep Warrier for Kolkata who might find the Wankhede conditions to their liking. For Mumbai, look out if they select Barinder Sran. He does not have the greatest economy or strike rate and is a bowler that you can probably avoid picking without too much of an opportunity loss.

Likely Playing XIs

Mumbai
Wicket-Keeper: Quinton De Kock
Batsmen: Rohit Sharma(c), Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Keiron Pollard
All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya
Bowlers: Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga, Barinder Sran.

Kolkata:

Wicket-Keeper: Dinesh Karthik

Batsmen: Chris Lynn, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana

All-Rounders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell

Bowlers: Rinku Singh, Piyush Chawla, Harry Gurney, Sandeep Warrier, Prasidh Krishna

How it might play out – Match Prediction

This is likely to be a bit of humdinger with all the different equations involved but Mumbai might just edge it because of the current purple patch Hardik Pandya is in and a good knock from the skipper.

Dotball Prediction XIs:

Preferred team for Dotball Head to Head / Small Contests:

Wicket-Keeper: Dinesh Karthik
Batsmen: Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Shubhman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Evin Lewis
All-Rounders: Andre Russell(VC), Hardik Pandya
Bowlers: Piyush Chawla, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah (C)

Captain: Jasprit Bumrah is almost impossible to wager against. An economy of less than 7/over and a strike rate of under 20 are extraordinary numbers.  Plus he is 5th on the list of most dot balls bowled this year.

Vice-Captain: Andre Russell can almost do no wrong. He has been walking in to bat with supreme confidence and backed that up with the timing.

Preferred team for Dotball Rumble / Grand Contests:

Wicket-Keeper: Quinton de Kock
Batsmen: Chris Lynn, Shubhman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav
All-Rounders: Andre Russell(C), Hardik Pandya
Bowlers: Rahul Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Harry Gurney, Lasith Malinga (VC)

Captain: Russell’s dual-threat with bat and ball is worth a wager on especially in a decisive match where he might be determined to single-handedly carry the team over the line.
Vice-Captain: Lasith Malinga likes the Wankhede conditions and his recent performances show that he hasn't really lost much of his pace either.
