Despite conceding a whitewash in the T20 series and not playing an international 50-0ver match since a very long time, the New Zealand Team defeated the Pakistan Team by 47 runs in the first ODI at Abu Dhabi. Pakistan will look to use their experience in UAE to draw level in the series by winning the 2nd ODI.
Venue: The Sheik Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host the 2nd consecutive ODI game. The stadium with 20,000 capacity also hosted the first T20 which Pakistan won by 2 runs.
Weather Conditions: The stadium is expected to be under clear sunshine like in the previous match.
Pitch Conditions: Faster Bowlers will enjoy bowling on this pitch which has given an average innings score of 258 runs so far. Being the 3rd game hosted on this pitch, a few cracks could open which could help the spinners too.
2) Predicted XI
New Zealand may not tinker with the winning squad while Pakistan may be tempted to change their batting combination. However, Pakistan could play with the same XI considering it is only the 2nd ODI
3) Recommended Player Types
As seen from the first game, the faster bowlers will dominate this match too. With the pitch getting used for the third time in the tour, the slowers could be in the game too.
On the batting front, with the average score only 258, technically good batsman will come out well in the game. The No.3 and No. 4 positions will be important as the batting might get difficult as the game moves on
4) Recommended Players:
Batsman: Kane Williamson, Babar Azam, Ross Taylor, Shoaib Malik, and Colin Munro
Kane Williamson is still a class act and a good innings is not far away. The Pakistan batting order has failed to adapt to the 50-over format and Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik will be the main batsman for Pakistan. Ross Taylor was the top scorer last game and if Munro can survive until the 20th over, Pakistan will be staring themselves at a big total.
Wicket-Keeper: Sarfraz Ahmed
Both Tom Latham and Sarfraz Ahmed were good in the first game but Sarfraz might think of moving up the order to stabilize the batting lineup. Sarfraz performs well under pressure and he is itching for a big knock to prove his haters wrong
All-Rounders: Imad Wasim and Colin De Grandhomme
The pitch could assist the spinners and Imad Wasim could perform better than CDG. Wasim has also been batting well and he could be the preferred all-rounder in the game
Fast Bowlers: Boult, Afridi, Lockie Ferguson, Southee, and Hasan Ali
Boult was brilliant in the first game and a similar performance is expected of him. Young Shaheen Afridi has been a revelation and the NZ batsman might have a difficult time picking him. The rest of the bowlers have been in decent form and can be the later picks for the squad.
Spinners: Shadab Khan and Ish Sodhi
Shadab Khan picked 4 wickets in the first match and the NZ batsman will be exposed one more time to their weakness. Pak players are good players of spin and Ish Sodhi might have it difficult to get wickets.
5) Captain & Vice-Captain choices
Kane Williamson and Imad Wasim could be the ideal choices. When Williamson scores, he scores big and he could single-handedly win the game. Imad Wasim will be able to contribute in both departments and his recent form will be an asset to the team.
