The third match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be played between South Africa women and West Indies women. The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 4th October 2024. The match will start at 3:30 PM IST.
South Africa women are coming on the back of a series win against Pakistan in Pakistan. They’ll be pretty confident as a side coming into this match. The likes of Marizanne Kapp, Laura Wolvaardt, Sune Luus and Chloe Tryon are the key players for the Protea women in this match. They’ll look to start off their campaign with a win.
West Indies women, meanwhile, are also looking good, especially, after the return of Deandra Dottin. Dottin alongside Matthews forms arguably the best opening duo in the tournament. The experienced Stafanie Taylor is also there alongside the likes of Afy Fletcher and Chinelle Henry. West Indies women will depend heavily on their big names: Deandra Dottin, Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor, especially, with the bat.
South Africa Women: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, Marizanne Kapp, Sune Luus, Chloe Tryon, Annerie Dercksen, Nadin de Klerk, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Ayabonga Khaka, Nonkululeko Mlaba
West Indies Women: Deandra Dottin, Hayley Matthews (c), Stafanie Taylor, Qiana Joseph, Shemaine Campbelle (wk), Chedian Nation, Chinelle Henry, Aaliyah Allene, Zaida James, Afy Fletcher, Karishma Ramharack
The pitch at Dubai is expected to be a better one, especially, compared to Sharjah. There will be something for the pacers with the new ball and the spinners will get some purchase as well. Teams may prefer chasing but batting first will be a good option as well. Expect scores in the range of 120-140 in this match.
Laura Wolvaardt (SA-W)
Chloe Tryon (SA-W)
Afy Fletcher (WI-W)
Hayley Matthews (WI-W)
Marizanne Kapp (SA-W)
Deandra Dottin (WI-W)
She has 119 runs in five T20s this year at an average of 23.80 and has struck at 109.20, including a fifty as well. Dottin can fetch plenty of points when on song and will be a good C/VC option.
Sinalo Jafta (SA-W)
Sinalo Jafta will bat too low to make her a good pick in fantasy cricket. She might fetch some points from catches and stumpings but there are plenty of better options to pick in this match. She will be our player to avoid for this game.
South Africa women have good depth in their squad as they have some quality all-rounders. Their pace attack is much stronger compared to the West Indies. West Indies are generally heavily dependent on Hayley Matthews and now Deandra Dottin with the bat. They have some good bowlers but overall, South Africa women are looking stronger. South Africa women to win this match.
