The first match of the Iberia Cup features Portugal and Spain at La Manga Club on Friday. Both sides are still finding their feet in international cricket. While Portugal doesn’t have much experience, Spain has already played a few series earlier in the year and head into the series as the firm favourites. With a number of talented individuals in their ranks, Spain is expected to make short work of Portugal. Nevertheless, a close encounter is expected to kickstart the series.
Portugal vs Spain
La Manga, Cartagena, Murcia.

The pitch generally favours the bowlers with low-scoring encounters being a common sight. With the relatively small boundaries playing into their hands, the batsmen should also do well with an even contest between bat and ball expected.
The weather is all clear for this game which should make for an interesting game of cricket. There isn’t any chance of rain with temperatures hovering around 27 degrees Celsius.
Injuries: No injuries are reported
Not much is known of how Portugal might approach this game although their team revolves around captain, Buccimazza. Their team has a decent balance between bat and ball with Tariq Aziz and Arslan Ahmed capable of scoring big runs in the batting unit. Mian Mahmood is also capable of picking wickets and will be their go-to bowler on Friday.

Spain has a couple of players who featured in the Champions League that was held at the same venue. The trio of Ravi Panchal, Christian Munoz and Yasir Ali were a part of the Catalunya side that did impress in the tournament. All of them are key to their fortunes in the first game as well. Atif Mehmood has also shone for Spain with the new ball while Paul Hennessy is also one to watch out for.
Tom Vine, Kuldeep Lal, Zulqarnain Haider, Faran Afzal, Vinod Kumar, Yasir Ali, Ravi Panchal, Paul Hennessy, Christian Munoz, Awais Ahmed, Atif Mehmood
Ravi Panchal scored 126 runs and six wickets in three games against Finland earlier in the year. He is bound to be a popular pick in the fantasy teams while the likes of Yasir Ali and Buccimazza are also decent options to have in the side. While Tariq Aziz is another good candidate, he is picked alongside Paul Hennessy, who also picked six wickets against Finland. Stoman is picked as the lone keeper in the side while Spain captain, Munoz also finds a place in the side. To round the team off, Atif Mehmood and Mian Mehmood should suffice with their wicket-taking ability.
