Meet Bangladesh Players for Hong Kong Cricket Sixes 2024: Jishan Alam to Sohag Gazi

Bangladesh's squad has ample quality, with a few featuring for Bangladesh in the past.

The latest edition of Hong Kong Sixes is just around the corner, and as many as 12 teams will participate in the competition. Bangladesh, placed in Pool D, are among them.

They have Oman and Sri Lanka in their group and will fancy their chances to defeat them and advance to the next stage. Their squad has ample quality, with a few featuring for Bangladesh in the past.

We present stats and general details of each player in the team.

Yasir Ali

Yasir Ali, the captain of Bangladesh for the Hong Sixes Tournament, is among the most experienced players in the squad, for he has played in all three formats for Bangladesh. He has featured in six Tests, nine ODIs, and 11 T20Is, scoring 435 runs at an average of 17.40, including two fifties.

He has played 93 T20s and scored 1789 runs at an average of 25.55 and a strike rate of 125.19, including nine fifties. Yasir can also bowl a bit of off-spin and might contribute a bit with the ball in the tournament.

Jishan Alam

Among the most exciting players in the country, Jishan Alam is a batting all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls useful off-spin. While he hasn’t played for his national team yet, Jishan has been part of Bangladesh U-19 and Bangladesh A sides.

So far, he has 575 runs at an average of 26.13 and a strike rate of 128.34 in 23 List A games, including four fifties, and 15 runs in two T20s. Currently, he is playing in the Emerging Asia Cup in Al Amerat.

Mohammad Saifuddin

Mohammad Saifuddin is an exciting all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace. He has played 67 matches for Bangladesh across ODIs and T20Is, scoring 568 runs at an average of 27.04, including two fifties, and taking 83 wickets at 29.36 runs apiece, with the help of two four-wicket hauls.

He has played 117 T20s, where he has scored 566 runs at an average of 15.72 and a strike rate of 118.41 in 61 innings. Further, he also has 153 wickets at 21.25 runs apiece, showing he is capable of contributing with both bat and ball.

Nahidul Islam

Nahidul Islam has never played for Bangladesh but has been around the domestic circuit for a while. He has featured in 53 First Class, 112 List A, and 85 T20 matches, having made his debut back in 2013.

He has scored 538 runs at an average of 14.15 and a strike rate of 114.46 in 50 innings, including a fifty, and taken 60 wickets at an average of 23.53, with the help of two-four wicket hauls. He was recently playing in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, a local List A tournament, where he bowled superbly by taking wickets consistently.

Abdullah Al Mamun

Abdullah Al Mamun is another young and exciting all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm medium pace. He has also not played for Bangladesh but has played all formats in the domestic circuit.

He has two centuries in First Class cricket and one in List A cricket, but his T20 cricket is limited to just three matches. Recently, he was playing in a local List A tournament called Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, impressing both bat and ball.

Abu Hider

Abu Hider is a left-arm pacer who has played for Bangladesh in ODI and T20I formats. He has played two ODIs and taken 3 wickets at 29.66 runs apiece while snaring 6 wickets at an average of 55 in 13 T20Is.

Overall in T20s, he has 77 wickets at an average of 29.38 in 92 T20s, including two four-wicket and a five-wicket haul. Further, he can also bat a bit, which should be handy in a tournament like Hong Kong Sixes.

Sohag Gazi

Among the most experienced players in the Bangladesh squad, Sohag Gazi has played for his national side across all three formats. He has played ten Tests, 20 ODIs, and ten T20Is, taking 64 wickets at 40.93 runs apiece, with the help of two five-wicket hauls.

His T20 record reads: 72 wickets at 32.97 runs apiece, with the best of 3/17. With his vast experience, Gazi will look to contribute to the team’s cause
