Highest Team Total in Men’s T20I Cricket: India Enters the List with 297/6 Against Bangladesh

India posted the second highest team total ever posted in T20I cricket and also the highest among Test playing nations.

India smashed their way into the record books on October 12, 2024, as they posted a massive total of 297/6 in the final T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. This is the second highest team total ever posted in T20I cricket and the highest among Test playing nations.

Sanju Samson and Suryakumar yadav led from the front as the duo stitched together a partnership of 173 runs after the early dismissal of opener Abhishek Sharma. Samson went on to score 111 off 47 deliveries, whereas Suryakumar yadav made 75 in 35 deliveries. Samson also recorded the second-fastest century for India in T20Is.

Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag carried the assault on after Suryakumar and Samson’s dismissals. Hardik smashed 47 off only 18 deliveries and Parag scored 34 off 13 balls. Rinku Singh finished the innings off in style with a six off the final delivery, remaining unbeaten on eight and taking India’s total to 297/6.

All the Bangladeshi bowlers went at an economy of above 10 runs per over, but Tanzim Hasan Shakib was the pick of them as he picked up three wickets for 66 runs. Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mahmudullah also picked up a wicket each.
