With the wicket of Johann Layne, Jasprit Bumrah now has 50 Test wickets on home soil for India.
Jasprit Bumrah takes two wickets with perfect Yorkers, sending Justin Greaves and Johann Layne back in India vs West Indies 1st Test.
During the first innings of the test, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah once again reminded everyone why he is regarded as one of the finest in world cricket with two unplayable yorkers. First, he produced a classic dismissal to send Justin Greaves back. It was a pinpoint yorker, fast and accurate, aimed right at the base of off-stump. Greaves, who was trying to settle in, was beaten by the pace as the ball went under his bat and hit the stumps.
Bumrah was not done there. In his very next over, he came back with another deadly yorker, this time against debutant Johann Layne. For a newcomer facing one of the world’s best, it was always going to be a tough task, and Layne had no answers. The ball zipped through his defence, uprooting the off and middle stumps and leaving him stranded.
With the wicket of Johann Layne, Jasprit Bumrah now has 50 Test wickets on home soil for India. He achieved this landmark in just 24 innings, making him the joint-fastest Indian fast bowler to reach the mark, alongside Javagal Srinath.
