During the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, 13-year-old cricketer made headlines after becoming the youngest player to be sold, when Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured his services for INR 1.1 crores. He was at the centre of an intense bidding war, with RR and Delhi Capitals (DC) battling fiercely to secure him but ultimately the former emerged victorious.
However, the Bihar prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi failed to live up to his lofty repute and had a disappointing outing just days after putting pen to paper for the lucrative IPL deal.
Included in the India squad for the ongoing U19 Asia Cup, all eyes were on him but Suryavanshi could manage just 1 run during the recent match against the Pakistan U19 side, which the tricolour lost by 43 runs.

Suryavanshi has shown strong potential and recently made headlines by becoming the youngest to score a century in an international youth match, hitting a 62-ball 104 against Australia Under-19 in Chennai.
While he is now focussed on representing India at U19 Asia Cup, he’s going the extra distance to prepare and keep himself focussed by avoiding social media.
“I am managing the hype by focussing on my game. I have not been looking at social media at all. At the moment, my focus is to do well in Aisa Cup, how to win the trophy,” Suryavanshi told Sony Sports ahead of India vs Pakistan U19 Aisa Cup clash.
For the unversed, Suryavanshi recently marked his T20 debut for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Rajasthan. Earlier this year, he set a record as the youngest player in Ranji Trophy history, debuting at just 12 years and 284 days old in a match against Mumbai.
