3 Marquee Players Delhi Capitals (DC) Might Target in IPL 2025 Auction

Delhi Capitals (DC) made a few bold calls on the retention deadline, and releasing Rishabh Pant was the biggest among them.

Delhi Capitals (DC) were among the worst-performing sides in the previous cycle, failing to qualify for playoffs in any of the three seasons. They made a few bold calls on the retention deadline, and releasing Rishabh Pant was the biggest among them.

So, they will eye a few big names during the auction who can be trusted with bat and take the franchise forward. They will want a leader for the next cycle since the ones retained are unlikely to get such a big responsibility.

Let’s try pinning down three marquee players DC might show interest in during the IPL 2025 auction.

Shreyas Iyer

Delhi Capitals might want Shreyas Iyer more than any other team in the IPL 2025 auction. He is a spin-hitter who can be flexible with his batting position and bat at No.3 or 4 as required.

More importantly, DC want a captain with proven credentials. Iyer previously took the same franchise to the final in IPL 2020 and won the title with Kolkata Knight Riders last season.

David Miller

Releasing Rishabh Pant means DC need a pace-hitter who can bat in the middle order. David Miller is ideally suited for this role, given he is among the most powerful batters against pace and can bat anywhere from No.4 to 6.

Miller is an LHB, which will bring variety to the batting unit. He will use his vast experience to thrive on Delhi decks.

Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada has a lot to offer in T20 cricket if used precisely. Leaving out all pacers will tempt DC to go after a solid speedster who can be used in at least two phases, and Rabada ticks that box.

He can move the new ball to bring wickets in the powerplay and hit the deck hard to be an enforcer in the middle overs. He has previously worked with the franchise and will be knowing conditions in Delhi.
