3 Teams That Will Target Adam Zampa in the IPL 2025 Auction

Adam Zampa was with Rajasthan Royals (RR) last season but didn't show up.

Adam Zampa is among the most defensive spinners in white-ball cricket and has proved his mettle by performing exceptionally well for Australia in ODIs and T20Is. He has been their premium tweaker for several years and has consistently done the job.

If we talk about his IPL career, Zampa was with Rajasthan Royals (RR) last season but didn’t show up to remain fit for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, he has registered his name again and will be up for grabs during the IPL 2025 auction.

We look at three teams that might be interested in him during the IPL 2025 auction.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have struggled to find a quality leg-spinner since releasing Yuzvendra Chahal in the IPL 2022 auction. Since then, they have tried Wanindu Hasaranga, who didn’t sustain longevity, and Karn Sharma, who is not good enough to be a lead spinner.

Hence, they can acquire Adam Zampa, who has a proven track record in international cricket of being a genuine wicket-taker. Zampa knows how to operate on flat decks and short boundaries and can be a long-term investment for the franchise.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) are not known for spending big sums on spinners and don’t use an overseas slot, but this was an area of concern for them in the previous cycle. They tried a few young players and experienced ones but didn’t get sustained success.

Hence, they might finally opt for a quality option in this department who can lead the spin attack for a full cycle, and few are as skilled as Adam Zampa. He knows how to bowl on bouncy decks after ample cricket in Australia and will be mighty effective in Wankhede.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) need to build a whole lineup, and one crucial vacancy is for a quality wrist-spinner who can bring regular wickets. They tried Rahul Chahar in the previous cycle but didn’t get the expected returns and will look to get a better option this time.

Ricky Ponting has followed Adam Zampa closely, so there might be an Aussie factor in the Punjab Kings’ case. So, PBKS can look to buy him and make him the leader of the bowling attack, with other defensive spinners revolving around him.
