Bhuvneshwar Kumar is expected to attract a lot of attention at the IPL 2025 Auction owing to his supreme new-ball skills.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was among the players Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. He has been with SRH for the last decade since 2014 but has been left out due to his waning expertise.
However, he still has a lot to offer, and his vast experience will still be more than handy for any team. Indian bowlers are the most important members of an IPL XI, and Bhuvneshwar is a proven performer in the league.
Several teams will go after him during the IPL 2025 auction, and we guess three of them in this segment.
Mumbai Indians (MI) might be among the first sides to go after Bhuvneshwar Kumar during the auction for multiple reasons. MI have struggled to find a suitable partner for Jasprit Bumrah lately, and Bhuvneshwar has previously worked with Bumrah while playing for India.
Further, he is a genuine new-ball wicket-taker and will get ample help in Wankhede early on. MI like to have experience in the pace department, and Bhuvneshwar ticks every box to join them in the next season.

Gujarat Titans (GT) invest heavily in Indian bowlers with experience, as visible by their previous acquisition of Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is another similar player who will enjoy working with Ashish Nehra.
He will also get some movement with the new ball early on in Ahmedabad, while his skillsets at the death will also be handy. If GT don’t get Shami, they will definitely try for Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have released the likes of Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora, the new-ball specialists, from their squad. So, they will desperately require powerplay specialists to accommodate Harshit Rana in the middle and death overs.
Bhuvneshwar will also partner with Harshit in the death overs and help KKR use overseas slots on other important roles. His price won’t be as high as in the previous editions, so he will fit into KKR’s budget.
