4 teams That Will Target Marcus Stoinis in the IPL 2025 Auction

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been in exceptional form leading up to the IPL 2025 auction. His recent unbeaten 61 off 27 balls against Pakistan showcased his ability to influence matches decisively.

Throughout 2024, Stoinis has maintained a batting average of 30 with a strike rate of 141 in T20s, making him one of the marquee strikers available at the IPL 2025 auction.

Given his prowess with both bat and ball, several IPL franchises are likely to vie for his services in the upcoming auction.

We think these franchises will benefit immensely from Stoinis and will go big for him at the IPL 2025 auction.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK’s home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, is known for its spin-friendly conditions. Stoinis’s medium-pace bowling can be particularly effective on such surfaces, providing valuable overs in the middle stages of the innings.

Batting-wise, he is a versatile option. While traditionally a middle-order batsman, Stoinis has the technique and temperament to anchor the innings at No. 3, a position CSK has experimented with in recent seasons.

His adaptability allows him to float in the batting order, offering flexibility based on match situations. This combination of batting versatility and bowling utility makes him a strategic fit for CSK’s lineup.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

RCB has been on the lookout for a reliable finisher, and with Dinesh Karthik’s tenure ending, they will want a player of similar calibre and power. Stoinis’s ability to accelerate in the death overs aligns with this requirement.

His experience in handling high-pressure situations can provide the stability RCB seeks in closing out innings. Additionally, his capability to deliver crucial overs adds depth to RCB’s bowling attack, addressing a longstanding need for a seam-bowling all-rounder.

Stoinis’s dual skills can help balance the team composition, offering both batting firepower and bowling options.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Stoinis was a key player for LSG in the previous season, averaging 32 with a strike rate of 147, including a century. His release after the performance last season was a slight surprise, which also indicates that the franchise might still unleash the RTM on him. They have one RTM left for a capped player after the retentions.

His performances, especially towards the end of IPL 2024, were instrumental in several of the team’s victories. Given this track record, LSG might consider using the Right to Match card to retain him.

His familiarity with the team’s dynamics and proven contributions make him a valuable asset. Retaining Stoinis would ensure continuity and bolster LSG’s middle-order strength, along with providing a reliable bowling option.

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

RR has a history of investing in finishers who can turn the game in the final overs. While Shimron Hetmyer has been effective in this role, the team would want to strengthen that lower order to give Riyan Parag the license to move up the order to No.4.

Stoinis fits this requirement perfectly, bringing in the ability to finish games with the bat. Moreover, his bowling offers additional overs, addressing RR’s previous seasons’ challenge of achieving a balanced lineup. His inclusion can provide the team with the necessary depth in both batting and bowling departments, enhancing their competitiveness.

Marcus Stoinis’s all-round capabilities make him a sought-after player for the IPL 2025 auction. His recent form and consistent performances in T20 cricket position him as a valuable addition to any franchise aiming to strengthen their squad.
