4 Teams That Will Target Sam Curran in IPL 2025 Auction

PBKS released him before the IPL 2025 auction, and Sam Curran will be up for grabs again.

Sam Curran became the most expensive player in the IPL 2023 auction, earning a whopping 18.50 crores and getting sold to Punjab Kings (PBKS). However, he couldn’t perform according to the expectations with both bat and ball, even though he showed flashes of brilliance sometimes.

Hence, PBKS released him before the IPL 2025 auction, and Curran will be up for grabs again. He is an all-rounder who contributes with both bat and ball and has plenty to offer if used precisely.

We look at four teams who might be interested in getting Sam Curran during the IPL 2025 auction.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might be most interested in acquiring Sam Curran during the IPL 2025 auction. CSK know how to extract the most from a player and have previously worked with Curran.

His bowling value will be best utilised in Chepauk, where his cutters and other slower ones will be mighty effective. Further, he is decent vs spin and can be promoted up in the order in home games to counter them.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) like having a left-arm pacer in their XI, and Sam Curran might be one of them. He can swing the new ball and get significant movement in home decks since there’s always some help for speedsters here.

Further, his batting will also be utilised here since the nature of the track in Wankhede is flat and easy for shot-making. Curran will be a value pick, especially in home games.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have released Marcus Stoinis and will need a solid all-rounder in case they don’t get him back. The ground in Lucknow is comparatively larger, so Curran’s slower ones will be more wicket-taking.

Further, he can contribute a bit with the bat if used in the middle order and should be an asset. It won’t be surprising if they bid hard for Curran.

Gujarat Titans

There is always some help for speedsters in Ahmedabad early on, and Sam Curran’s best use is with the new ball. His bowling might be best utilised in Ahmedabad since big grounds will also provide some opportunity to bowl him in the middle overs.

GT need a middle-order batter, and Curran can be that batter since he likes to take a few balls before going big. His price won’t be as high this time, and GT can get a solid all-rounder at a reasonable price.
