From seasoned international stars to rising talents, here are the five best overseas spinners selected by teams in the IPL 2025 auction.

Adam Zampa (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Adam Zampa, the Australian spinner, was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 2.40 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. Known for his deceptive spin, consistency, and wide range of deliveries, the 32-year-old has established himself as a lethal wicket-taking option.

In his 20 IPL appearances, Zampa has claimed 29 wickets, with his best performance being 6/19. Given his impressive record, he is expected to be a regular in SRH’s starting XI for the upcoming season.

Maheesh Theekshana (Rajasthan Royals)

Maheesh Theekshana was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.4 crore after being released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. He is known for his ability to control the scoring and take crucial wickets. Theekshana’s skills make him a valuable addition to RR’s spin department.

In 27 IPL matches, Theekshana has taken 25 wickets, with his best performance being 4/33. Given his consistent form, he is expected to feature in RR’s starting XI alongside his international teammate, Wanindu Hasaranga.

Wanindu Hasaranga (Rajasthan Royals)

Rajasthan Royals secured leg-spinning all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga for INR 5.25 crore, bolstering their squad with a proven match-winner in limited-overs cricket. Hasaranga has emerged as a standout performer in T20s, contributing significantly with both the ball and the bat.

Hasaranga is renowned for his wicket-taking abilities. He poses a consistent threat to opposition batters on any surface. In addition to his bowling skills, he is a reliable lower-order batter. He can score quickly, adding depth to the RR lineup. With his all-round prowess, Hasaranga is set to be a key player for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. He will be joined by his international teammate, Maheesh Theekshana.

Mitchell Santner (Mumbai Indians)

Mumbai Indians picked up Mitchell Santner for his base price of INR 2 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. He was released by CSK ahead of the auction. Although he had limited opportunities at CSK, Santner is known for his ability to produce match-winning performances with the ball. This makes him a valuable addition to the MI lineup.

MI faced challenges last season due to the lack of an overseas spinner, and Santner fills that gap perfectly. His ability to contribute with the bat in the lower middle order further enhances his value, positioning him as a key player for MI in the upcoming season.

Noor Ahmad (Chennai Super Kings)

The 19-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner Noor was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR 10 crore after being released by Gujarat Titans. He quickly made a mark in cricket, debuting in the IPL with GT in 2023 and taking 16 wickets in 13 matches. In the 2024 season, Noor claimed 8 wickets in 10 matches.

Noor has the ability to generate sharp turn. His clever variations make him a key asset, especially during powerplays and death overs. With experience in T20 leagues worldwide, he adds valuable depth to CSK’s bowling attack. This attack already features established stars like Jadeja and Ashwin.
