The upcoming mega auction will see all ten teams go all out to bolster their squad for the next season.
The venue and the dates for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction was announced earlier today via an official press release. The mega event is set to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia across two days, November 24 and 25.
Notably, the registration for the same closed earlier last night (November 4) and it witnessed a staggering response. A total of 956 uncapped Indian players have put their hat in the ring. Along with that, amongst the overseas players, South Africa has the highest representation with 91 Proteas stars registering their names.
In total, an impressive 1,574 players have registered for the auction in Jeddah. The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
Amongst the capped players, 48 players are Indian while the remaining 272 are foreign stars. On the other hand, 152 players are uncapped Indians who were a part of previous IPL seasons while there are three cricketers who will be new names and haven’t played in the IPL before.
It is also understood that the final list of players that will go under the hammer will be a trimmed down number after all the franchises submit their choices.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, all ten franchises have already named their list of retained and released players. While some franchises have decided to retain their core and marquee stars, few franchises opted to let go off the big names in a bid to revamp their squad.
