The BCCI sent out a note of advisory to the franchises on Wednesday evening (October 30).
Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) retention deadline today (October 31) at 5.00 pm IST, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a strong caution to all 10 franchises.
The BCCI sent out a note of advisory to the franchises on Wednesday evening (October 30) asking them not to disclose the names of their respective retentions to the media. The BCCI, of course, will do the needful once the deadline ends.
The upcoming retention list is set to play a key role in shaping the future rosters for IPL teams for the next season. While some players will re-enter the auction pool, others will continue with their current franchises in the next IPL cycle.
It has been understood that the BCCI wants to unveil the list of retained players through a comprehensive thread of social media posts and releases. Only after the official announcements can franchises share their own statements or updates on their respective online handles.
Notably, there is widespread speculation in the cricketing world that well-known Indian players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer might be without a franchise and enter the upcoming IPL 2025 auction. On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma is expected to continue with the Mumbai Indians, much like MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are anticipated to remain with their respective teams, CSK and RCB.
The IPL 2025 auction is likely to occur between November 22 and November 25, potentially as a multi-day event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital city.
