Newly recruited RCB speedster takes a sensational hat-trick; bowls an economical spell in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

He started his spell with three economical overs in the powerplay, conceding only six runs and no boundaries.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar snared a fantastic hat-trick during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game between Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He delivered a sensational spell and played a vital role in Uttar Pradesh’s win, who needed to win the game to stay alive.

In the final over of his spell, Bhuvneshwar snared three wickets on the first three balls to complete his hat-trick. He dismissed Robin Minz, Bal Krishna, and Vivek Anand Tiwari during his three consecutive wickets and ended hopes of Jharkhand’s win.

He started his spell with three economical overs in the powerplay, conceding only six runs and no boundaries. Then in his final over, Bhuvneshwar took a fantastic hat-trick in the 17th set and bowled a maiden to help his team remain on track to win the game.

He ended with a spell of: 4-1-6-3 and was the best bowler of the match. His sensational spell earned him the Player of the Match award; Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s team management would be massively pleased with his efforts after spending a hefty sum on him during the IPL 2025 auction.

Uttar Pradesh defeated Jharkhand by 10 runs

After winning the toss, Jharkhand won the toss and opted to field first in Mumbai. Uttar Pradesh posted 160/8 in their allotted 20 overs – thanks to a quickfire 45 from Rinku Singh at No.5. Priyam Garg (31) and Sameer Rizvi (24) also played nice hands to propel Uttar Pradesh to a fighting first-innings total.

Bal Krishna took three wickets, while Vivekanand Tiwari dismissed two batters for Jharkhand. While chasing, Jharkhand lost three wickets in the powerplay but later recovered a bit due to fine knocks from the middle order.

Anukul Roy played brilliantly for his 91, including eight boundaries and seven maximums, at a strike rate of 206.82. Meanwhile, Virat Singh (23) also looked good, but no other batter could contribute enough to help Jharkhand.

Eventually, they fell short by 10 runs in a nail-biting thriller as Uttar Pradesh won the encounter. It was a must-win game for them, and the captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar led from the front.
