Former CSK player leads team to title win in USA’s National Cricket League

This was also their maiden NCL title.

A former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star marshalled his troops brilliantly to guide the Chicago CC to their maiden title win in USA’s National Cricket League (National Cricket League Sixty Strikes tournament).

Robin Uthappa, who plied his trade with the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners from 2021-2022, also gave a stunning display of his power-hitting abilities as Chigao CC outclassed the Atlanta Kings comfortably by 43 runs.

Coming out to bat first, Chicago showed their attacking intent right from the word go in the first over, with skipper Robin Uthappa leading the charge. Leonardo Julien and Mikyle Louis also made key contributions with the bat.

After Uthappa scored 15-ball 35, Julien (61 off 22) and Louis (43 off 17) stepped up with big contributions to give help their side post a daunting total of 160 for 4 in 10 overs.

Ben Russell was the highlight amongst the Atlanta bowlers, picking up three wickets for 28 runs in 2 overs.

Speaking of the chase, Atlanta tried their best to accelerate the run rate but always found themselves behind the asking rate.

For Atlanta, building strong partnerships with the bat proved challenging. Despite a few standout individual performances, they struggled to keep up with the required run rate. James Neesham’s 29 off 16 balls and Tom Bruce’s explosive 61 off 21 balls gave it their all in pursuit of the massive target, but ultimately their efforts fell short.

On the bowling front, Sohail Tanvir stood out for Chicago, claiming 2 wickets for just 13 runs in his 2-over spell. Leonardo Julien was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding innings of 61 runs.
