He could be targeted by RCB for the No.3 batting position.
Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction, a former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) young talent has been spotted giving trials held by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
19-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who was picked up by the defending IPL champions in last year’s auction for INR 20 lakhs, could now be on the radar of the Bengaluru-based outfit for the next edition.
Raghuvanshi put up a promising display in the 10 matches he played for KKR in IPL 2024, scoring 163 runs with a fifty to his name and batting at an impressive strike rate of 155.24.
With RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli playing the opener’s role for the past few seasons, the franchise can target the top-order youngster to bat at the No.3 spot.
RCB have built a strong reputation for supporting and developing young U19 talents like Sarfaraz Khan and Raghuvanshi could be another promising name to add to that legacy. He has the ability to bring much-needed firepower to the top order, making him a valuable asset for the team.
RCB could also focus on grooming him as a long-term option, ensuring stability in their batting lineup for the future. Considering his likely affordability, Raghuvanshi could prove to be a smart investment, offering both immediate impact and significant long-term benefits to the franchise.
RCB also have a decent amount left in their purse (INR 83 crore) to make a few extra signings. They have retaining three players ahead of the retention deadline, decideding to stick with former skipper Virat Kohli (INR 21 Crore), batting dynamo Rajat Patidar (INR 11 Crore) and talented young pacer Yash Dayal (INR 5 Crore).
