Fans react after Sheldon Jackson discussed as overseas player in Popular Cricket Talk Show
Fans were left in absolute splits after the name of Saurashtra’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter Sheldon Jackson was mistakenly discussed as an overseas entity in the list of probables to make the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing XI in IPL 2022.
Enlisting himself at a sum of INR 30 lakhs at the mega auction in Bangalore last month, Jackson attracted bids from new entrants Lucknow Super Giants, too. But the player ultimately went to two-time winners KKR for INR 60 lakhs.
Long been on the fringes of India selection for his consistent domestic performances without ever getting the higher recognition, the 35-year-old Saurashtra stalwart is making his comeback in the IPL after missing four successive seasons.
But before Sheldon Jackson makes his long-awaited return to the biggest T20 league, the player has found himself in the midst of a funny mishappening off the field as his name got discussed during a popular sports show as an overseas cricketer.

Here is how fans chose to react:
This is just so shambolic from the so-called "sports experts" on @sports_tak. Better apologies Sheldon Jackson, who's been a veteran in Indian Domestic cricket and one of the best batters in the past 2 years. @vikrantgupta73 do the needful. https://t.co/Nq8Hzk7mGh

Quality of @sports_tak's cricket discussion has been degrading steadily. Several recent examples can be sited where their analysis lacked homework, knowledge of current developments or any research on lesser known domestics talents. And now this regarding @ShelJackson27 https://t.co/S6rFfzg2xh

Why is Vikrant Gupta even a host if he can't focus on his own show for two seconds?! That's like taking your audience for granted literally and figuratively, something unacceptable if you are a man of the people you portray yourself to be. https://t.co/ZeETN0xk6O

@sports_tak get some sensible people, who know the game of cricket & the cricketers. Calling @ShelJackson27 a foreign player is utter shame on you, and so called these cricket experts.
No excuses for this, as you were sitting right beside @vikrantgupta73@aajtak@KKRiders @IPL https://t.co/ijyK6NDLu2

Recognition in the senior Indian national team has been elusive but Sheldon Jackson stands strong as one of the finest cricketers in the contemporary Indian domestic scene.
Jackson boasts of an eye-catching record for a wicketkeeper-batter in first-class cricket, averaging a whopping 50.39 over 79 games. The experienced batter has compiled nearly 6,000 runs in red-ball domestic cricket with 19 centuries and 31 fifties.
Jackson’s prowess isn’t limited to first-class cricket as he emerged as Saurashtra’s stand-out player in this season’s edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20. He made 271 runs from his six innings of the tournament at a strike-rate of 141.88, including 4 half-centuries.
